Wax melts are meltable wax chunks that are warmed to release scent. They are a flame free and convenient way to fragrance your home! Wax melts are placed in a wax warmer and melted with the wax warmer for up to 10 hours. See the steps below on how to use wax melts.
Using wax melts requires a wax warmer. Purchasing a quality wax warmer is crucial to getting an awesome scent throw from your wax melts.
Read the instructions and all safety information that came with your wax warmer. This is to ensure that you get the best scent out of your wax melts. Some wax warmers use a light bulb to melt the wax, while others have a built-in heat source. If you have an electric warmer that comes with a light bulb, make sure to remove the plastic from around the bulb before you start melting. Wipe down the top of your wax warmer. If you're using a wax warmer liner, place the liner on top of your wax warmer. If you're using a wax warmer with a silicone dish, you do not need to put any wax liners.
If your wax melts come in the form of a wax bar, break off a piece (approximately 1 oz) and place it inside the warmer. We recommend using no more than 1.4 oz of wax at a time (which is the size of one of our ice cream scoop wax melts). Place the wax melt in your wax warmer. Do not add water or oil to your wax melts.
Turn on your wax warmer. If you have an electric warmer, find a safe space to begin your warming process and plug the electric warmer into any electrical outlet. Follow all safety instructions included with your wax warmer. Press the “on” switch to activate your warmer, or follow the instructions that came with your warmer.
If your warmer doesn’t have a timer, set an alarm or timer to keep track of how much wax you are using. Do not move your warmer when it is holding hot wax.
Once you are done using your wax warmer simply turn it off. Wait for the wax to get cold and solidify before removing the used wax from your warmer.
Once the wax has cooled you can scrape the wax out of your melting dish, discard the liner, or—if you have a warmer with a silicone dish—gently nudge your dish from behind to pop the wax out. Do not discard wax down your drain. Never use abrasive cleaners that can cause wear and tear to your wax warmers. We recommend following the instructions that came with your wax warmer.
Melted wax does not evaporate; only the scent dissipates, so make sure to remove the used wax from your warmer before adding more wax melts. Our wax melts generally yield 2-3 hours of fragrance per ounce. You can reuse the wax as many times as you want until the fragrance is no longer apparent.
