Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

To us at Whole Body+ diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of how we run our organization, how we treat others, and how we view the world. We believe strongly in every human having a voice. We found our principals on the fair treatment of our staff, customers, and every human on Earth. We do this by embarrassing our differences rather than disregarding them and promoting a culture of fair treatment and honesty.

We strive to build a sustainable approach with specific objectives, measurable outcomes, and clear expectations for both our leaders and staff. We understand that all perceptions of diversity are not the same. We look at work place diversity as a combination of many different backgrounds and being as equal and fair in representation as possible.  Diversity is less about what makes people different and more about understanding, accepting, and valuing one another's differences.

Common types of diversity:

Types of Diversity

We like to conceptualize diversity as an embodiment of a group’s composition that is made up of many or all of the diversity types shown above.

We believe Inclusion is the extent to which various team members, employees, and other people feel a sense of belonging and value. This starts with empathy. This means not only respecting people’s differences but also considering things from their point of view. We call this BBB or Balance, Barriers, & Blind-spots.

  • Balance of experience for less represented groups.
  • Barriers to entry both structural and societal that might be at play.
  • Blind-spots and assumptions that might be working against a more inclusive environment.

Equity is about creating fair access, opportunity, and advancement for all those different people. It’s about creating a fair playing field. This brings us to the Guiding Principals of Whole Body Plus:

Guiding Principles

  • Maintain a diverse environment in which all people (customers & staff) are treated fairly and respectfully, with equal access to opportunities and resources
  • Model the Way: Educate and bring awareness to what diversity, equity and inclusion should look like
  • Zero tolerance for racist actions and a culture of social exclusiveness, and hold individuals participating in this type of behavior accountable
